What this PDF editor does

This is a page-and-mark editor rather than a word processor, and the distinction matters because it decides what is safe. Rewriting text that is already in a PDF means editing a page's content stream, which is exactly where formatting, fonts and spacing get destroyed. So instead of pretending to do that, the editor gives you the operations that cannot break a document: add text, draw freehand, highlight, draw shapes and arrows, place a signature, and rearrange the pages underneath.

Watermarks apply to every page or only the current one, tiled or centred, at any angle and opacity, drawn behind the page content so the document stays readable. They can be removed again later without re-uploading anything, because the watermark is stored as a setting rather than burned into the raster.

Pages can be reordered by dragging them in the rail or with the arrow buttons, rotated individually or all at once, duplicated, deleted, and blank pages can be inserted at a matching size. Every one of those operations is reversible with undo, and the export is a fresh document built from the pages you kept rather than an in-place edit of the original — which is why pressing Save twice cannot stack two copies of everything you drew.

When you save, every mark is drawn into the page itself. That is what a signing workflow actually needs: a recipient cannot select a signature object and delete it without the page visibly changing. The cost is that you cannot come back and edit a signature after saving, so get it right before you export.

How to use it

  1. 1.Open a PDF with the Open button, or drop the file onto the page.
  2. 2.Choose a tool from the rail on the left, then draw or click on the page.
  3. 3.Select any mark to move it, resize it, or change its colour and size in the panel on the right.
  4. 4.Reorder, rotate or remove pages from the panel on the left.
  5. 5.Press Save PDF, or Ctrl/Cmd+S, to download the edited copy.

Accuracy and limitations

  • Files are limited to NaN MB because the document is held in the tab's memory; larger files will not open.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be decrypted here and are rejected with a message rather than failing partway through.
  • Text is drawn in the four standard PDF fonts, which cover Latin characters only. Scripts needing another font cannot be typed, though a signature can be pasted as an image.
  • Existing text in the document cannot be rewritten. Cover it with a filled rectangle or a highlight and write over it instead.
  • Saved files contain no editable annotation objects: every mark is flattened into the page.
  • Your work is stored only in this browser so a reload does not lose it. It is not backed up anywhere, and clearing site data deletes it — download your copy before you clear anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read into your browser's memory with the File API and is never sent to a server, because there is no upload endpoint. That also means the page keeps working on a poor connection, and closing the tab discards everything: there is no copy on any server to delete.
Can I sign a PDF here and send it on?
Yes. Draw a signature with the signature tool, place it on the page, and save. The signature is written into the page as an image, which means a recipient cannot simply select and delete a signature layer without visibly altering the page.
Why can I only type some characters?
The editor draws with the four standard PDF fonts — Helvetica, Helvetica-Bold, Courier and Courier-Bold — because embedding a full Unicode font would add roughly 200 KB to every file you download. Those fonts cover Latin characters including accents. Text in scripts that need a different font, such as Japanese or Korean, cannot be typed; use the signature tool and paste an image of it instead.
Can I edit the text that is already in the PDF?
Not directly. Changing the content of an existing text object means rewriting the page's content stream, which is where PDF editors most often lose formatting. What this editor does instead is let you add text, cover what is underneath with a rectangle or a highlight, and reorder pages. That covers the common cases — a correction note, a date, an initial — without risking the layout of the original.
What happens to my work if I close the tab?
It is gone. Nothing is saved anywhere until you download the file. Keep the tab open until you have saved, and give the downloaded copy a new name rather than overwriting the original, so a mistake is always recoverable.
Why are password-protected PDFs rejected?
An encrypted PDF has to be decrypted before any page can be read, and this editor does not implement decryption. That is a deliberate limit rather than a missing feature: it would be easy to ship a page that accepts a locked file and then silently fails on the tenth page, which is worse than saying so immediately.
Are there size or page limits?
Files up to NaN MB can be opened, because the whole document is held in the tab's memory. There is no page limit, but very large or heavily scanned files are slow to render, because every page is drawn by a rasteriser running in your browser.
